About, and how to correct us
The internet has been making animals famous for twenty years. Nobody ever built them a home. EVERGREEN ZOO is 106 of them in one park, each drawn as an original pixel character doing the thing that made them famous, with a route to the real animal wherever an honest one exists.
The rules we hold ourselves to
- All art is original. Every animal here is drawn from written description as pixel data in code. We do not use, trace, or host photographs of any animal.
- Every story is sourced. The card that opens when you click an animal carries the outlets and institutions the story came from, and so does that animal's full page. Each link was fetched once to find it and fetched again by someone who had not seen the first search, and anything that was dead, paywalled to nothing, or turned out to be about a different animal of the same name was thrown out. An animal with no source that survived that shows no source list, not a guess.
- Money never touches this site. Donation buttons open each organisation's own official page. We take no cut, hold no funds, and process no payments.
- We do not invent routes. 38 of 106 residents have no verified way to support them, and their pages say exactly that. It is the reason the other 68 are believable.
- No affiliation. We are not connected to, endorsed by, or partnered with any zoo, sanctuary, aquarium, owner, estate, or trademark holder named on this site. 61 organisations are linked here; none of them asked to be.
- Coins are reported, not recommended. Where a community token exists for an animal we say so as a matter of record. Nothing here is financial advice, and no token on this site is ours.
- The dead are not monetised. Memorial residents carry candles and charity links, never merchandise or tokens.
Corrections, removals and takedowns
If you own, care for, represent, or are the estate of an animal here and want an entry corrected or removed, we will do it. The same goes for any organisation that does not want to be linked, and for anyone who spots a fact we have got wrong.
We do not require a legal notice and we will not argue. Removal requests from an animal's owner, keeper, or estate are honoured on request, no justification needed.
Email us about an animalHow a donation route gets on this site
- The organisation must actually house, treat, or represent that animal, or work directly on its cause.
- The URL must be the organisation's own, and must resolve when we check it.
- If we cannot confirm it, the animal ships with no route rather than a guess.
- If a route breaks later, it gets replaced or removed, and the page says what happened.
