April was born on 18 April 2000 and became the animal that proved a livestream could hold the whole internet. In 2017 her small upstate New York park pointed a camera at her stall while she was pregnant and simply left it running; the giraffe cam collected more than 232 million views and 7.6 billion minutes of watch time, and roughly 1.2 million people were watching live when her calf Tajiri was born on 15 April 2017. She had six calves in all. She was euthanised on 2 April 2021 at 20 years old after arthritis in her feet and left hind leg outpaced her keepers' ability to keep her comfortable.
