Lives in Legends Garden
Boo was a Pomeranian born 16 March 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area, owned by Facebook employee Irene Ahn. His body was clipped short while his head was left as a round pom, and that teddy-bear silhouette built one of the largest animal accounts ever made — roughly 16 million Facebook followers. Kesha tweeting about his page in October 2010 tipped him into mainstream fame, and a photo book and Good Morning America appearances followed. He died in his sleep on 18 January 2019, aged 12; his family wrote that his heart had been failing since his housemate Buddy died in 2017.
What they do
Sits square and swivels his big round head slowly from one side to the other while the body stays perfectly still. Three frames: head left, head centre, head right..
Did essentially nothing and conquered the internet doing it. Professional sitter.
Lore
- ★His Facebook bio was three sentences long: 'My name is Boo. I am a dog. Life is good.'
- ★Kesha tweeting about him in October 2010 is what turned a small page into a global one.
- ★His head was left long while his body was clipped short — the haircut, not the breed, made the teddy-bear look.
- ★Buddy, the dog he was always photographed with, died in 2017 at 14; Boo's heart problems started afterwards.
