Marnie was a shih tzu born 26 October 2001 who was found as a stray, nicknamed 'Stinky' by the shelter, and adopted at about 11 by New York TV producer Shirley Braha in 2012. A brief bout of vestibular disease had left her head permanently tilted to the left and her long tongue hanging out, and the Instagram account Braha started in 2014 passed 1.9 million followers. She was photographed with Tina Fey, James Franco and Demi Lovato, and became a standing argument for adopting senior dogs. She died at home in early March 2020, aged 18.
