🐰 Oolong

Domestic rabbit Β· Hokkaido, Japan - the home of photographer Hironori Akutagawa

Lives in Legends Garden

Oolong was a house rabbit in Hokkaido whose owner started balancing objects on his head on 25 May 1999 and called it 'head performance'. A photo of him holding a dorayaki pancake dead level on his skull, taken 12 February 2000, escaped onto English-language forums after a DVD Talk thread on 8 August 2001, captioned 'I have no idea what you're talking about... so here's a bunny with a pancake on its head'. That line became one of the internet's first true image macros, used to derail an argument with nonsense. He died in January 2003, long before most of the people reposting him ever learned his name.

What they do

Sits dead still, ears straight up, while a pancake balanced flat on the crown of his head wobbles, settles, and stays put. Slow blink on the last frame..

Patient to the point of absurdity - he would hold the pose for a snack and never once shook the thing off.
