Ed arrived at his new home in Christiana, Tennessee on 30 May 2025 and was reported missing the next day. He was filmed trotting along Interstate 24, which deputies shut down, and for eight days he evaded searchers across Rutherford County while the internet filled with memes — including a faked photo of him eating at a Waffle House. On 8 June 2025 deputies spotted him by drone in a pasture, and a Tango 82 Aviation helicopter crew from Fredericksburg, Texas airlifted him out in a sling and returned him to his owners.
What they do
Hangs in a rescue sling under a helicopter, legs tucked up under him, swinging slowly left and right as the rotor lifts him clear of the field..
Escaped on day two, shut down an interstate, and needed an aircraft to be talked out of a Tennessee pasture.
