Lives in The Farm
Fiona spent roughly two years stranded on a narrow shingle beach at the foot of cliffs on the Cromarty Firth in the Scottish Highlands, boxed in by rock on one side and water on the other, after kayakers first spotted her in 2021. On 4 November 2023 a team of five led by shearer Cammy Wilson winched three men 250 metres down the cliff and hauled her out; the British press had already christened her the loneliest sheep in Britain. She was rehomed 270 miles south at Dalscone Farm near Dumfries, where the immediate problem was that two years of unlimited grass had left her badly overweight. In February 2026 the farm announced she had given birth to twin lambs.
What they do
Drops her head to nose one lamb at her flank, swings across to nose the second, then lifts her head high and bleats with her jaw working..
Two years alone made her wary of the flock; now she has her own and she is not letting go of them.
