In late August 2025 a four-year-old cow bolted from Miller's Processing in San Tan Valley, Arizona, days before she was due to be slaughtered. She ran over three miles through the desert heat, was photographed near a middle school, and was finally found standing in a water hazard on a golf course around 4pm before police returned her to the plant. Aimee Takaha of Aimee's Farm Animal Sanctuary saw the video, and the plant gave her 24 hours to find $2,500; about sixty people online covered it. The cow was named Mootilda by her new keepers and now lives at the sanctuary.
What they do
Breaks into a flat-out run with her tail cranked straight up over her back at a right angle, head low, then skids to a stop and shakes..
